The Black City reminded me a lot of Menzoberranzan, from R. A. Salvatore's "Dark Elf Trilogy'. Especially the black towers jutting up from the houses, and the occult practices.
I am not familiar with Salvatore's work (I've heard the name). I suppose great minds think alike, lol. My main inspiration for The Black City actually came from Agartha from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, perhaps there's a smidgen of Commorragh from 40k (speaking of dark elves). Also, this sketch of the "Towers of Bologna": https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/da/Medieval_Bologna.jpg

Another great entry.
Thanks, Sam. Glad you enjoyed the chapter. :)
