After having spent some time just lurking about in Twitter, I finally decided to reveal some of my hand. Even my real name: Michael P. Marpaung.

This is the place where I give some thoughts in. It will be focused on culture and writing. I’m also aiming to do some reviews/analysis here. Speaking of fiction…

Inquisitor’s Promise

Some of you may notice the tab on the side that says Inquisitor’s Promise. For the curious, that is a book that I am currently working on. But instead of publishing it on Kindle or whatnot, I’m planning publish it in this Substack in a serialized way. I’m not going to get into the details just yet.

My Story

This is actually not my first rodeo when it comes to blogging. Twice I’ve tried to write my own blog. The first is called ‘Germanicus Remarks’. The other I used a pen name with the use of my middle name, my Catholic confirmation name, and my mom’s maiden name, Peter A. Sitompul.

As you can see, I quickly abandoned them. Why? One reason is because I wasn’t really serious about it. But the other is that I was unfocused. I wanted to make my blog about everything and it ended up being about nothing.

This one will be different. I want to focus on culture and writing, in particular fiction. Why? Because this is something that I’m called for, strange as that it may sound.

Now what?

Just keep an eye out for my stuff. At the moment, I’m not doing anything on Twitter for Lent. I won’t be back until Easter. But I’ll still be writing some things. It’s about time we kick this into overdrive.
