I'm Officially a Published Writer
Check out my flash fiction at 'Silence and Starsong'.
Last month, the online magazine Silence and Starsong ran a flash fiction contest. In response, I entered my own story called Thunderbird. All I’ll say about it here is that it’s a science fiction story, anything more would just be spoilers since it’s flash fiction. Though I didn’t win, Thunderbird received an honorable mention. More importantly, the editors liked my story enough to publish it. Check it out!
Though the magazine is yet up and coming, I am really happy to have my story published at another publication. As the title says: I’m officially a published writer.
You might say that I’m already one since I’ve been writing on Substack. But this is different. Getting my story published on another place meant that I can say for sure that someone else liked my story. This is something that I have yet to experience on this Substack.
One thing that I’ve learned from other writers, one that I’m learning myself, is that getting interested readers is hard. As a writer, sometimes you can’t help but feel that all your efforts are not going anywhere.
I hope that this is the first step in my own writing career. But whatever happens, Thunderbird will always have a special place in my heart.
